The Green Thumb
Look at our garden! And it is growing by the second! We are going to have a vegetable feast pretty soon.
I never really realized how therapeutic gardening can be. Growing up I had to week for my chores or as a punishment and I hated it! Doesn't every little kid? But now it is like a reward...If I do all my homework I can go out and weed the garden! It helps me relieve some stress to get out and get some dirt between my fingernails. I love the smell of the plants and dirt and the feeling of the sun. I guess that is just the farm girl in me :) (Chaz gets the majority of the credit for the garden because he has done a ton of work on it!)

Hooray For America
The night before the 4th of July there was this firework show up in the football stadium that we heard was going to be pretty cool so we decided to check it out. After I got home from my Anatomy class Chaz and I hopped on our bikes, stopped at the grocery store to grab some treats, and rode up to the soccer fields to watch. There were tons of families around us with young kids and one family in particular had the cutest little 2 or 3 year olds (baby hungry). The moment the fire works went off one yelled so loudly and proudly:
"Yay Yay America! GO! GO! GO!
I don't know where they would have learned that but those two little guys yelled that for the whole entire firework show. Not exaggerating. It may have been annoying if it wasn't so dang adorable. After a minute though, I realized that it wasn't just cute....it was truly wisdom from the mouth of a babe! It made me think: Is that the kind of attitude I have about this country? There are so many things I get anxious about when I hear people talk about what is going on in the government; with money, war, terrorism, health care, etc. I don't understand government very well and that makes it even more scary!
But hearing those kids reminded me that getting anxious is not having faith. Where is my optimism?! I need to remember that God will be with us as we remember him. I want to say with optimism for the rest of my life, "Yay Yay America! Go! Go! Go!" I'm so grateful for this wonderful free country we live in and for the people who defend it.
Chaz and I had a lot of fun on the actual 4th of July. He was on call so we stayed in Logan. We went to the Hyrum parade, went on a bike ride up the canyon, roasted hot dogs, and then watched the fireworks with my Mom, Dad, Johnny, Sarah, and Scott. We had fun with some sparklers too:
Yay for the 4th of July and yay for America :)
